A Pathway to a Just Transition - The Role for Nuclear Power
Strengthening the Conversation on Nuclear Delivery in Scotland
MBY Consultants recently attended the Nuclear Industry Association event in Edinburgh, which brought together leaders from across the nuclear, energy and infrastructure sectors to discuss the future of nuclear capability in Scotland. The day, which included contributions from the Nuclear Industry Association and a range of industry speakers, reflected the growing recognition that nuclear energy will play an important role in delivering long-term energy security and resilience.
MBY Consultants was pleased to sponsor the evening dinner organised by the Nuclear Insitute Scotland Branch that followed the conference sessions. The dinner provided an opportunity to continue the discussions of the day in a more informal setting, bringing together industry professionals from across the UK nuclear ecosystem.
A consistent theme throughout the conversations was that the future of nuclear in Scotland will not be defined by policy alone. Delivery capability, that is the ability to structure, govern and execute complex programmes effectively, will ultimately determine whether ambitions can be translated into successful projects. Scotland already possesses a significant part of that capability. In particular, the North-East of Scotland has built deep expertise over decades of delivering complex projects in energy and offshore environments. As the energy transition accelerates, that experience represents an important opportunity for the wider nuclear supply chain.
Events such as this one play an important role in strengthening the connections between organisations and disciplines that will be required to deliver the next generation of energy infrastructure. What will shape the future of nuclear in Scotland is not ambition alone, but the ability to translate ambition into deliverable programmes. MBY Consultants was pleased to support that conversation in Edinburgh and to contribute to the wider industry dialogue on capability, delivery and long-term value.
